Saeed Anwar Biography

Born in Karachi on September 6th 1968, the Pakistan Captain Saeed Anwar has become one of the best batsmen in the world through hard work, dedication combined with his exceptional talent. He has a tremendous eye, excellent timing, and makes use of his wrists better that any other batsmen in the game. He can find the gaps at will, and more often that not, a little push from Saeed simply races away to the boundry. Strong on all sides of the wicket, Saeed’s favorite shot is the cut shot, which he plays better than any other Pakistani batsmen. Very strong on the off side, Saeed has the ability to play some
glorious cover drives that are an absolute delight to watch. His off side shots are so good, that he is considered to be the best off side player, among left handed batsmen in the world. The reason for his immaculate off side play is because of his sound technique. He is solid in defence, yet can destroy any bowling attack in the world in a matter of minutes. His strength in timing and the ability to play on the rise, combined with excellent execution, makes him the best opener to ever come from Pakistan…far ahead of the likes of Soahil,Raja,and the Mohammad brothers. As a first class cricketer, Saeed used to bat in the middle order however once he made his ODI debut in Australia, he was thrust into the opener’s role. He began opening the innings in domestic cricket, and made his way back into the ODI side as a specialist opener. Despite, having lost out on precious years due to politics in the PCB, Saeed never lost hope. He made most of the limited opportunity’s that Imran Khan gave him, yet he was over looked for the likes of Shoaib Mohammad and Ramiz Raja…players who never performed outside of Pakistan. In 1993, Saeed created a new world record..he hit three back to back ODI hundreds in Sharjah, a feat never before achieved by any Pakistani player. He was now finally a permanant member of the ODI side, under Wasim Akram. However, he was still not considered for a test spot..once again a huge error by the selectors. In 1994 however, Saeed finally got a chance to show his worth as a test match plater. He hit a mammoth 169 in New Zealand and combined it with some important half centuries in the rest of the series. He had now proven his credentials as a solid test match player with the temperment and ability to succeed at the level. Since 1994, Saeed has played another 40 odd test matches, scored over 3500 runs and averages 47.20. He is simply a brilliant player. He is also the Captain of the Pakistan team. He has the ability to lead from the front and become an excellent Captain, as time will tell. Saeed is an excellent team man and gets along extremely well with his team mates, who have nothing but praise for him..as well as fans and press alike. Saeed is also a Computer Engineer, and his wife
Lubna, is a doctor who takes care of him when he gets his regular dose of flu:) Pakistan’s best batsman..is a great asset to the game..and Inshallah will continue to play for Pakistan…for years to come.

Shoaib Akhtar (born 13 August 1975 in Rawalpindi, Punjab) is a Pakistani cricketer, and amongst the fastest bowler in the world, earning him the name Rawalpindi Express. He set a world record by clocking 100mph twice. His ability to bowl fast yorkers, well disguised slow balls, swinging deliveries, and sharp bouncers made him lethal even on dead pitches. However, he has never been far from controversy, often accused of not being a team player. Shoaib was sent back home from a tour in Australia in 2005. A year later he was embroiled in a drug scandal after testing positive for a banned substance. However, the ban imposed on him was lifted on appeal. In September 2007, Shoaib was banned by the PCB for an indefinite period for the alleged brawl with his team-mate Mohammad Asif. The ban was finally lifted but injuries and his attitude problem have kept him more off the field than on it.

Wasim Akram born in Lahore, Punjab is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a left-arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman, who represented the Pakistani cricket team in Tests and One Day Internationals. Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers ever, Akram holds world records for the most wickets taken in both ODIs (502) and List A cricket (881), and was one of the pioneers of reverse swing bowling. The revolutionary nature of reverse swing initially resulted in accusations of ball tampering, although reverse swing has now been accepted as a legitimate feature of the game. Akram's later career was also tarnished with accusations of match fixing, although these remain unproven.
Wasim retired in 2003, after a brief spell with Hampshire in England. Since then, Wasim has taken up commentary and can currently be seen as a sportscaster for the ESPN Star network, and is also running shows on ARY Digital. He is married to Huma Mufti, daughter of Mr. Humayaun Mufti. Wasim and Huma have two sons from their marriage of fourteen years. Wasim has also appeared in Fuzon video as a model.

Abdul Razzaq was once rapid enough to open the bowling and remains composed enough to bat anywhere, though he is discovering that the lower-order suits him nicely. His bowling - the reason he was first noticed - is characterised by a galloping approach, accuracy, and reverse-swing. But it is his batting that is more likely to win matches. He boasts a prodigious array of strokes and is particularly strong driving through cover and mid-off off both front and back foot. He has two gears: block or blast. Cut off the big shots and Razzaq gets bogged down, although patience is his virtue as he demonstrated in a match-saving fifty against India in Mohali in 2005. Just prior to that he had also played a bewilderingly slow innings in Australia, scoring four runs in over two hours. When the occasion demands it though, as ODIs often do, he can still slog with the best of them: England were pillaged for a 22-ball 51 at the end of 2005. and then again for nearly 60 runs in the last three overs of an ODI in September the following year.
It has hardly been smooth sailing though through his career. He suffered a slump, particularly in his bowling, between 2002 and 2004 when, though his place in the team wasn't under threat, there was uncertainty over how best to use him. But there were signs he was rediscovering some of his old guile if not his pace and nip. And if the pitch is in anyway helpful to seam - as it was in his first and only Test five-wicket haul at Karachi in 2004 or against India at the same venue in January 2006 - he can be a proper danger. Though Kamran Akmal's hundred overshadowed all in the Karachi win over India, Razzaq's performance was easily his most emphatic as an allrounder: he scored 45 and 90 as well as taking seven wickets in the match. A combination of injuries and poor form put his Test place into question and a knee injury days before the 2007 World Cup meant Pakistan missed his presence in a disastrous campaign.
A lackluster comeback to international cricket against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi and mediocre performance in the practice matches saw Razzaq being omitted from the 15-man squad for the Twenty20 World Championship and consequently announce his retirement from international cricket. He then went on to sign for Worcestershire towards the end of the county season as well as signing up with the Indian Cricket League, which ruled him out of Pakistan contention. He took back his decision to retire but committed himself to the ICL for two seasons, during which he served the Hyderabad Heroes as one of their star players.
After a global amnesty and quitting the ICL, he was welcomed back to the Pakistan fold for the World Twenty20 in England and made an immediate impact as Pakistan won the tournament. His Test comeback also looked set to be complete after he was included in Pakistan's 15-man squad for the tour of Sri Lanka in June. Early in his career he promised to be Pakistan's most complete allrounder since Imran Khan, and though for a variety of reasons he hasn't translated that into achievement, his country wouldn't mind having just a very solid allrounder.

Born in Mangalore and brought up in Mumbai, Aishwarya Rai is the daughter of Krishnaraj Rai and Vrinda Rai. She completed her education in Mumbai and pursued architectural studies while modelling part time. She was crowned Miss India World and Miss World, both in 1994. Then, like many of her predecessors, the film industry beckoned this fair damsel. Aishwarya made her debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil biopic, Iruvar (1997). The film was a critical and commercial success. Her Bollywood debut came with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997). However the film failed to create any ripples at the box office. She then starred in S. Shankar’s Tamil film, Jeans, which went on to become India’s official entry to the Oscars for that year.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) was one of the major milestones in her career. Aishwarya’s role won her critical acclaim and accolades from all over. The film was a major success and won her, her first Filmfare award for Best Actress. Her other movie, Taal (1999) received moderate success in India, however was internationally very successful.
She then starred in Josh and Mohabbatein alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2000. She portrayed the role of Shah Rukh’s childhood sweetheart Paru (Parvati) in Devdas (2002), which was an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s famous novel by the same name. The film became the highest grosser of the year at home and abroad and won her, her second Filmfare award for Best Actress.
The next couple of years were not too great for Aishwarya’s carreer. Bengali films – Choker Bali (2003) and Raincoat (2004), Dil Ka Rishta (2003), Kuch Naa Kaho (2003), Bride And Prejudice (2004), Khakee (2004), Shabd (2005), The Mistress Of Spices (2004) and Umrao Jaan (2006) did not fare so well at the box office.
The mega blockbuster Dhoom 2 (2006) came as a welcome respite. Guru (2007) got her positive reviews for her character in the film. She also acted in British films, Provoked (2007) and The Last Legion (2007). However, both the film failed to do well. In 2008, she played the role of Queen Jodha bai in the partly fictionalized epic drama, Jodhaa Akbar which became a commercial and critical success. She acted acted in Sarkar Raj (2008), a sequel to Sarkar (2005). In 2010, she acted in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. In the same year, she appeared alongside south Indian Superstar, Rajnikant in Enthiran, a Tamil movie which was also dubbed in Hindi as Robot. The film went on to become the biggest blockbuster in India ever! She also appeared in Action Replayy (2010) and Guzaarish (2010).

Towering at 5’8”, with an hour-glass figure, the beautiful and elegant Katrina Kaif stands apart and is not one to go unnoticed.
Katrina was born in Hong Kong to an Indian Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Suzanne Turquotte, both of whom are British citizens. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Kaif has seven siblings. She was raised in Hawaii and later moved to her mother’s home country, England. Katrina began her modelling career in Hawaii at the age fourteen; her first job was for a jewellery campaign. She continued modelling in London and did several advertising campaigns, and even walked the ramp in the London Fashion Week. While in London, was spotted by Kaizad Gustad, who casted Katrina in his 2003 film, Boom, which sank without a trace. Movie offers initially trickled in owing largely to her unfamiliarity with Indian languages. In 2004, she played the part of Princess Malliswari in the Telugu movie Malliswari, followed by another Telugu film, Allari Pidugu.
Katrina saw moderate success with the 2005 film Sarkar and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan. She co-starred with Akshay Kumar in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, in 2006; the movie flopped but her pairing with Kumar became a super hit jodi. Five releases marked 2007 for Katrina. Namastey London with Akshay Kumar was one of the year’s top hits, for which Katrina did her own dubbing for the first time. The other three movies were Apne with the Deols, David Dhawan’s Partner and Welcome, all of which performed well at the box office.
In 2008, we caught her in two blockbusters- Race and Singh Is Kinng, both of which did well. Her first release for 2009, New York, was also a commercial success. At the year’s end, she appeared in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, with Ranbir Kapoor, and in De Dana Dan. Both films were did well at the box-office. Katrina’s first film of 2010 was the Prakash Jha directed political thriller, Raajneeti, where she appeared opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film did extremely well at the box office. Katrina also starred in Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar and although the film was not successful, her item song, Sheila Ki Jawani, was a huge hit. Katrina Kaif’s upcoming projects are Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

With his penchant for perfection and professionalism, Aamir Khan is one of the few method actors in Bollywood, who has taken acting to a whole new level. An actor, director, producer, playback singer, a state tennis champion, and mentor to his nephew (Imran Khan) – he’s all that and more. Aamir was born in Mumbai to a Muslim family that has been actively involved in the Indian motion picture industry for several decades. His father, Tahir Hussain, was a film producer while his uncle, Nasir Hussain, was a film producer, as well as a director and an actor. Aamir has three siblings Faisal, Farhat, and Nikhat. His cousin Mansoor Khan is a director.
Aamir Khan was first introduced as a child artiste in the 1970′s hit Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). He made his adult acting debut in a role that went quite unnoticed in Ketan Mehta’s Holi (1984). His first notable leading role came in 1988 in the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which was directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan. This film was a breakthrough commercial success, effectively launching Khan’s career as a leading actor. Having the typical ‘chocolate hero’ looks, he was publicised as a teen idol. He also starred in critically acclaimed film Raakh (1989). Aamir went on to appear in several other films in the late ’80s and early ’90s: Dil (1990), which became the highest grossing film of the year, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) (for which he also wrote the screenplay), and Rangeela (1995). Most of these films were commercially successful and critically acclaimed. Aamir’s other successes include Andaz Apna Apna: the movie was reviewed unfavourably by critics, but has, over the years, gained a cult status.
Aamir’s only release in 1996 was the Dharmesh Darshan directed commercial blockbuster Raja Hindustani. In 1997, he co-starred with Ajay Devgan and was paired opposite Juhi Chawla in the film, Ishq, which did well at the box office. In 1998, Khan appeared in the moderately successful Ghulam, for which he sang the hot song, ‘Aati Kya Khandala’. John Mathew Matthan’s Sarfarosh and Deepa Mehta’s Earth 1947 were Khan’s releases in 1999. His first release for the new millennium, Mela, in which he acted alongside his real-life brother Faisal Khan, failed at the box office. In 2001 he appeared in Lagaan, which was also his first home production. The film was a major critical and commercial success, and received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Academy Awards. The success of Lagaan was followed by the Farhan Akhtar directed, Dil Chahta Hai.
Khan then took a four year break citing personal problems, and returned in 2005 with Ketan Mehta’s Mangal Pandey: The Rising. The film didn’t fare well at the box office. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s award-winning Rang De Basanti was Khan’s first release in 2006. His role was critically acclaimed. Fanaa was his second release in 2006, where he starred opposite Kajol. In 2007, Aamir took on the role of director for his second home production, Taare Zameen Par. In 2008, Khan appeared in the movie Ghajini that broke many box-office records. In the same year, Khan launched his nephew Imran Khan in another film from his production house, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. In 2009, Khan appeared in the commercially and critically acclaimed film, 3 Idiots, as Ranchodas Chanchad. The Rajkumar Hirani directed film went on to become Bollywood’s highest grossing film. In 2010, Aamir released, under his banner, the critically acclaimed film, Peepli Live, that was based in a rural setting. Aamir returned to big screen with his fourth production Dhobi Ghat, written and directed by his wife, Kiran Rao, in 2011. Aamir is currently shooting for Reema Kagti’s next film. His fifth home production, Delhi Belly, is scheduled to release in July 2011.
